This week we will be learning how to tell the time. Today we made our own clocks to help us.

## Maths

We have been busy learning lots in our maths lessons today.

Reception children have been practising their subtraction skills by playing a game involving hunting for objects and taking some away.

Year 1 children have been developing their addition skills by using ‘grab mats’ to construct number sentences.

We always have great fun whilst learning lots!

## Marvellous Maths

These children used the greater than, less than and equals signs to compare numbers.

## Reception Maths

We have started to look at addition in Maths. We started off by counting how many altogether. We used a part, part, whole model to help us.

Miss Crawley introduced us to her friends – Mr Add and Mr Equals. We can use our arms to show each sign…

Some of us have been writing number sentences using dice and cubes.

## Maths Reasoning

Year 1 have been showing their reasoning skills in maths this week.

Bob said “I can make all of the numbers from 11 to 20 using the digits 1 to 9.”

The year 1 children had to see whether Bob was right or wrong. They worked in groups with the digits 1-9 and worked systematically to see if they could make the numbers 11-20.

Mossab said “We can’t make 11 because we only have one number 1”

Adbullah noticed that “We can’t make the number 20 because there is no 0”

As a group we decided that Bob was wrong because we could only make the numbers 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18 and 19.

## Representing numbers

Today year 1 have been continuing to learn about numbers to 20 by representing them in different ways with different mathematical apparatus such as base 10, numicon and counters.

## Sorting coins

Today reception children sorted coins into different groups. We had groups based on colour, size and value. Lots of great maths language has been used such as “penny, 2p, 20p, coin, money”.

## Year One Maths

This week the year 1 children are learning about numbers to 20. Today we practiced our counting and writing of the numbers.

## Reception Maths

In reception this week we are learning about money. Today we looked at lots of different coins and spoke about what we could see.

## 3D Shapes

Today Year One looked at different 3D shapes. We played a game were we had to put them on the correct label it was tricky but we worked together to get it right.

We made models using 3D shapes and wrote how many of each shape we used.
